H.E Gen Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Ministry of National Defense joined the ASEAN Defense Ministerial Meeting Retreat at Bali Island, the Republic of Indonesia

On October 22, 2011, H.E Gen Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Ministry of National Defense and his wife led delegates of National Defense to participate in the ADMM Retreat of 10 ASEAN States members which will be held at the Grand Hyatte Hotel, Bali Island, and Republic of Indonesia from 22 to 24 October 2011.

On the auspicious occasion, stating to open this meeting, H.E PURNOMO Yusgiantoro, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, in his capacity as the Chairmanship of the meeting, and on behalf of the Indonesia Government expressed warmest welcome to all ASEAN defense ministers who attended in this important meeting. H.E Minister of National Defense of Indonesia also extended and expressed condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Governments, people who are ASEAN members including, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar Union which seriously affected by inundation . H.E Minister of National Defense of Indonesia added that, through three consecutive ASEAN meetings in the upcoming 2015, without fail we will decide to establish an ASEAN community in which ASEAN Politic and Security Community as well. His Excellency emphasized that in order to achieve this goal; we have to make efforts to strengthen cooperation among all ASEAN nations, especially in the field of defense cooperation of the ASEAN countries which is superior factor for the whole comprehensive community.

In the occasion, all H.E ministers, deputy ministers and representatives of ASEAN defense ministers also shared and mutual exchange of views on strengthening cooperation of ASEAN defense in order to surely achieve the ASEAN Politic and Security Community in upcoming 2015, as well as disaster management, providing humanitarian assistances, and military role in cooperation in region for disaster relief and curbing proliferation of mass destruction weapons, and do not allow it to happen in the region. In the important event of exchanges of views, H.E Gen Tea Banh stated that to be absolutely and successfully achieved the ASEAN Politic and Security Community in 2015, all ASEAN country members have to strengthen cooperation of cordial partnership both in the region and the world arena with jointly supervise various works including, works of scientific research on regional security which will be necessity to respond to security and stability for people in the entire ASEAN community.

It would be make a remark that, in the ADMM Retreat of ASEAN countries at Bali island, the meeting reiterated to reduce the ADMM Plus time which will be convened, from three times to two times every year and this initiative will be discussed in the meeting that Cambodia as the next ADMM Chairmanship 2012.

After this meeting was completed in compliance with its agenda to be on schedule, H.E PURNOMO Yusgiantoro, minister of National Defense of the Republic of Indonesia handed over of the hosting rights to H.E Gen Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Ministry of National Defense who will be the next ADMM and relevant meetings Chairmanship 2012.

State to the Hand Over Ceremony of Chairmanship for ADMM 2012, H.E Gen Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister stated that, the ADMM 2012 in Cambodia will be sixth meeting and also sixth year that all ASEAN countries increased its endeavors to aim at establishing a community which has better security and cooperation. With this spirit, H.E Gen Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that, the upcoming ADMM’s topic 2012 is: Promoting ASEAN Unity for the Harmony, Security and Stability Community.

On behalf of the host and the ADMM Chairmanship 2012, H.E Gen Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister also invited all defense ministers of ASEAN countries and their colleagues who have been presenting in the ADMM Retreat at the moment, at the Bali Island to participate in the sixth upcoming ADMM 2012 in Cambodia.
